“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” – Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)
True design goes beyond appearances; it’s about functionality and purpose. Just as God designs each of us with purpose and function, web design should go beyond aesthetics, addressing how a site functions and meets the needs of its users. A beautifully designed website loses its impact if it’s hard to navigate or doesn’t deliver a seamless experience. In everything we create, we are called to prioritize not just form but also function.
When we commit our work to God, we’re reminded that purpose must be at the core. Functionality adds value to our work, enabling it to serve others in meaningful ways. Every button, page, and detail in a website should serve a purpose, just as each of us has a role to fulfill in God’s larger plan. By focusing on how our work serves others, we create with intention, reflecting God’s purpose-driven design in all we do.
How can you incorporate more purpose and functionality into the things you design or create?
